What Does a Manufacturing Technician Actually Do?

Manufacturing technicians are the people who physically build rockets and satellites on the factory floor. They assemble structures, install components, run functional tests, and follow precise work instructions to ensure that every part meets quality standards before it ships.

The work is hands-on every day. You might be torquing fasteners on a rocket engine mount, installing wiring harnesses inside a fairing, running a leak check on a pressurized system, or operating a CNC machine to fabricate a bracket.

This is one of the most direct entry points into the space industry. Many companies will train motivated candidates who show up with the right attitude, a clean record, and a willingness to learn — no engineering degree required.
